The Inspiration behind the CDSUB200
As we mentioned in the introduction the CDSUB200 has taken inspiration from three iconic dive watches. This watch is an homage to the Submariner, the Turtle and the 62MAS
Submariner Styled Case
Let’s start with the exterior. There’s only a few dive watches that have been at the top of the game since the 1950’s. One such watch is the Rolex Submariner – their flagship underwater timepiece since 1953. The iconic Submariner has a distinctive case style with two protusions either side of the crown. Our CDSUB200 has a similar case style with the same protusions protecting the screw down crown. the cyclops date bubble is another nod towards the impeccable Submariner.
Seiko Turtle Hands
For the hands of this dive watch we took inspiration from another classic – the Seiko Turtle. The Turtle was made famous in the movie “Apocalypse Now” with Charlie Sheen as Captain Willard. If you don’t know the story behind this watch – read it here.
Seiko 62MAS Dial
Seiko first introduced its dive watch in 1965, the Seiko 62MAS powered by the Calibre 6217 automatic movement with 17 jewels running at 18,000bph. The Dial of our CDSUB200 is inspired by this watch – with bold chrome borders to the C3 lume filled indexes. It was called the Seiko 62MAS-010 > 62 from the Calibre 6217 and MAS from Model Automatic Selfdater. More about the history of the Seiko Dive Watches here
ChronoDivers Dive Watch Collection
ChronoDivers aim was to produce a range of affordable dive watches encompassing quality and value for money. Every one of the ChronoDivers diver’s watches is powered by the bomb proof, super reliable Seiko NH35A automatic movement. They all includes features only normally found in more expensive brands like Sapphire crystals and 316L marine grade stainless cases with screwdown caseback and crowns. All ChronoDivers watches feature C3 lume on watch hands and all but the CD200SKX9 (Pepsi) feature Ceramic bezels. All this from JUST £99 – how? Because we sell DIRECT to the customer.
