The AddiesDive Tuna is a dive watch that aims to replicate the rugged, professional-grade design of the famous Seiko Tuna. At a fraction of the cost of its inspiration, this practical homage is an attractive option for divers and enthusiasts seeking a tool watch that balances quality, functionality, and affordability. In this review, we’ll delve deeper into its key features and assess its performance as a diving instrument and an everyday timepiece.
Case and Build Quality
One of the first things you’ll notice about the AddiesDive Tuna is its imposing 47.5 mm case diameter and 15 mm thickness, which give it a bold and substantial wrist presence. The case is crafted from 316L stainless steel, a standard for high-quality dive watches, known for its resistance to corrosion in harsh environments. This hefty build is complemented by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, ensuring both durability and excellent readability in various lighting conditions. Weighing in at 198 grams on the steel bracelet, it is by no means a lightweight watch, but it fits comfortably on larger wrists or when paired with a rubber strap.

Movement and Performance
At the heart of the AddiesDive Tuna is the Seiko NH35A automatic movement. This movement is a staple in many microbrand dive watches due to its reliability and low maintenance. With 24 jewels and a 41-hour power reserve, it delivers dependable performance. The movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz), which is standard for mid-range automatics. Its accuracy, while not chronometer-grade, falls within an acceptable range of -20 to +40 seconds per day. For a watch at this price point, this is more than adequate, especially given its robust build and diving credentials

Diving Features
Being a professional dive watch, the AddiesDive Tuna Homage boasts a 300-meter water resistance rating, making it suitable for scuba diving and other water sports. The 120-click unidirectional ceramic bezel is another essential feature for divers, allowing for precise timing of dives. The bezel action is smooth and firm, with little to no backplay, enhancing its reliability underwater. Furthermore, the screw-down crown ensures the case remains watertight, a critical component in maintaining the integrity of a dive watch at significant depths.

Lume and Legibility
One of the standout features of this watch is its lume. The AddiesDive Tuna Homage is equipped with Swiss C3 Super-LumiNova, known for its exceptional brightness and long-lasting glow. This lume is applied generously to the hands, indices, and bezel, ensuring excellent legibility in low-light conditions or when diving in murky waters. The brightness and duration of the lume easily compare with more expensive dive watches, which is a significant selling point for this homage
Water Resistancy and Accuracy
Here’s a few more photos from the review process. The watch was tested for Water Resistancy down to 5Bar (equivalent to 50m). This test means the watch is great for swimming, bathing, showering etc. The team at ChronoDivers have all faith in this watch’s rating to 300m WR – absolutely fine for snorkelling and shallow scuba. If you are a professional scuba diver – going to depths beyond 15m – we’d recommend a watch which is certified to ISO 6425 as shown here
The watch was also tested on a Weishi 1000 Timegrapher for it’s accuracy in various positions simulating daily wear. The best we saw over a 20s period was -4s per day – the worst we witnessed was +12s per day. In other words – EXCELLENT.

Wearability and Design
Despite its size, the AddiesDive Tuna Homage is surprisingly wearable. The 22 mm lug width and the overall case design help the watch sit securely on the wrist without feeling overly top-heavy. The watch comes with a choice of steel bracelet or rubber strap, both of which offer different wearing experiences. While the steel bracelet adds to its tool-like aesthetic, the rubber strap lightens the overall feel, making it more suitable for active wear or prolonged use. The design is unmistakably inspired by the Seiko Tuna, but with small modern touches that make it feel fresh, such as the sleek ceramic bezel and the slightly refined case finishing.
Conclusion
The AddiesDive Tuna Homage offers an impressive combination of durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. It retains much of what made the Seiko Tuna a legend in dive watches, but at a price point that makes it accessible to a wider audience. With its NH35A movement, 300 meters of water resistance, and excellent lume, it is a solid choice for both professional divers and watch enthusiasts alike. While it might not have the refinement of higher-end models, it more than makes up for it with its rugged build and reliable performance
